Money Moves
Uyo
The first live retail payment demonstration for Blip. Real vendors, real checkout booths, real money moving.
Lagos is not Nigeria. Every Web3 brand in the country runs the same play: activate in Lagos, post the photos, call it a national campaign. Uyo was the version of the work that does not get done, and it was also the harder technical test. Talking about instant settlement is cheap. Putting a queue of people through live vendor checkout on mobile is not.
Concurrent retail payments through live vendor checkout booths.
Under high concurrency mobile testing, on the day.
Through the Luma registration funnel.
A deliberately smaller room built for live transacting.
Execution,
without a
safety net.
Outside the primary hub there is no default supplier list, no venue everyone has used before and no crowd that turns up out of habit. Everything has to be built.
Event Execution
The full run of the day, from set up through the programme to the close, delivered on the ground rather than managed from a distance.
Brand Activation
Giving a digital brand a physical presence people could stand inside, photograph and remember after they left.
Community
Working with the local Web3 community rather than importing an audience, so the room reflected the ecosystem it was held in.
Audience
Managing attention across the programme, keeping the room engaged and making sure the message reached people in a form they could use.
Local Ecosystem
Operating with an understanding of how Akwa Ibom actually works, which is a different problem from operating in Lagos.
Experience
Real-world Web3 engagement: people in a room, faces on camera, conversations that happened in person.
An activation that only ever happens in Lagos is not a national strategy. It is a photo opportunity with better traffic.
